Pre-Natal Exposure

This week’s preventative focus is on an unexpected yet vulnerable part of our community: Exposure during pregnancy. At a critical time in development, prenatal exposure to pesticides, air pollution, and even paint is now strongly associated with childhood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma. A recent study published in Environmental Research even supports science linking prenatal exposure to pesticides and childhood brain tumors. More and more research is proving that a shift away from dangerous chemicals and toxins in our everyday environments where pregnant women may be exposed is critical in the prevention of childhood cancer.

So- what does this mean, and what can we do about this? The good news is that some prenatal exposure prevention can be achieved through our everyday actions! This week, we’re challenging you to take some of the steps below to help prevent prenatal exposure to childhood cancer! While it may not feel that these small steps are making much difference, each action is a step toward less diagnoses of cancer in kids. #Preventchildhoodcancer #Mighty4Mikey
